HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), used by Blu-Ray players and cable or satellite receivers, normally ensures a DRM-protected link between the device and a compatible display. You won’t see any benefits streaming 4K content on a 1080p TV or your Mac’s 1440p display since it’s more pixels than can be displayed. I don't know if it's a Mac-only problem, but it is for me. The only suggested solution is a $400 HDCP stripper that's under constant legal torture - if the HDCP governing body decides to revoke their digital certificate the strippers will cease to function.
I have a number of recordings on an HDD attached to a PVR. Elan smart pad driver windows 7 download. At the moment i can only copy them on to my laptop by linking the Scart socket on my PVR to a USB port on my MacBook using Roxio Video Capture. This works but it requires first converting a digital signal into an analogue one and then convering this back into a digital signal, which is inherently inefficient and must result in a degraded signal.

Is there a way I can feed an HDMI digital signal directly into my MacBook, presumably via one of the USB ports using some form of connector? Would Quick Time Player be able to read and record the signal or would I need additional software?

Here’s some great news for all of you who have bought new HDTVs equipped with HDCP. I guess it only takes some soldering to bypass the HDCP switch. WOW, the engineers who thought of HDCP are really stupid, really…
[GRitchie] found that his new TV with “InstaPort” Fast HDMI Switching didn’t perform this re-encryption step between the set’s internal switcher and the next stage in decoding. Soldering just eight wires directly from the switching chip’s output to an HDMI cable provided an unencrypted output that could then be received by a PC for later replay.
